If you love reading and are planning a holiday abroad in the near future I have an offer on my Liberty Sands trilogy which could avoid you having to pay excess baggage charges. Or if you’re intending to spend most of the Bank Holiday weekend immersed in a good book or two, I’ll give you the details later.
Fingers crossed that the weather will be as good as the forecasters are promising this weekend. Compared with the glorious May we enjoyed last year when we had sweltering temperatures and all the online retailers were struggling to fulfil their hot tub orders (personal experience – I cancelled the impulse order in the end) this May has literally been a wash-out, not to mention cold for this time of year! Please tell me I’m not the only one to still have had the central heating on first thing in the mornings until earlier this week.
However, my garden has loved all the rain. I think it has possibly been the best year ever for our three ceanothus bushes, not to mention the rhododendrons and honeysuckle, and our apple tree has literally been laden with blossom – fingers crossed that means lots of fruit later in the year. All we need now is the sunshine to be able to sit outside and enjoy it all without huddling together under blankets.
In a way though, I’m quite pleased that it looks as though June is going to be glorious as it’s my birthday in a couple of weeks and usually the weather is decidedly touch and go. I’m hoping this year we might be sipping wine out on the decking late into the evening.
If you are into astrology, you will know that makes me a Gemini. A few days ago, fellow Bookouture author, Jenny Hale posted the above on Twitter. I have to say that I recognise myself in most of this particularly the bits about communication and storytelling… Jenny is a Gemini too and is prolific in terms of her books.
Speaking of books, I promised you a special deal for the Bank Holiday weekend and I hope you’ll agree I’ve delivered on my promise. All three Kindle versions of the Liberty Sands trilogy, Life’s a Beach and Then, If He Really Loved Me and It’s Never Too Late to Say are at 99p until midnight on Monday. Do remember you can purchase Kindle books for other people just as you can paperbacks if you’ve already read and loved the trilogy. If you haven’t read it, you can have a look in the ‘My Books’ section of my website to get a flavour of the three storylines. They are quite emotional reads, more in the vein of My Mother’s Secret, so if you enjoyed that you might want to download all three for under £3… and no worries about excess baggage charges if you’re flying this summer.
This weekend might not be quite so relaxing for our son and his girlfriend who are moving into their first home together after living with us for the past seven months. Our house is going to feel very empty when they’ve moved out, so I bought this sign to remind myself that family is still family even though you may not be living under the same roof.
Obviously, as Wilfie is my son’s cat, he will be moving out too, so I thought I’d post this cute picture of him from when he was about a year old – look at that glossy coat. When he’s gone, it will be the first time in over forty years that Chris and I will have had a house completely to ourselves… no children and no pets, although on the latter it might not be too long before the situation changes.
On that note, I’ll close as I’m still recovering from cataract surgery which has been slightly less straightforward than I had hoped so I can’t spend too long looking at a screen until it settles a bit. It’s not ideal with the copy edit of The Woman on the Beach due back to me imminently. Let’s hope there aren’t too many changes needed and if there are, I’ll be doing them in bite-size chunks.
Next week is the first Friday blog of the month, so it’s a return of ‘Between the Lines’ featuring M.M. Chouinard.
Until then, have an enjoyable Bank Holiday whatever you are up to
Much love
Julia xx
